Miksang Contemplative Photography

'When we actually see directly, the world appears fresh, vivid and alive.'

Workshop Description

Miksang Level 2: Making Contact: Discovering THAT

In 'Opening the Good Eye', we taste the mind of equanimity or evenness about what we see. Because of this, we begin to develop certainty in the view that 'there is such a thing as unconditional perception that does not come from self of other'. We start having certainty that we can experience the world directly and joyfully. Once we have developed some openness beyond what 'this', or 'I' think about what I see, it is possible to engage with the 'thatness' of the objects of perception. As part of this course we will be introduced to the study and practice of 'Deep Noticing' and the Miksang 'Core Practice'.

Pre-requisites: Miksang Level 1. Open to all levels of photographic experience.

Workshop Details:

Each day begins with visual exercises followed by a shooting assignment. After lunch we meet for editing, and you will also have free time, for relaxing, socializing and recharging. After dinner we meet for the photo review. All in all it’s good fun for all of us.

Meditation:

Optional we offer a meditation instruction. If you like you may join the daily meditation sessions at Dechen Chöling in the morning and the evening.

Camera: a simple point and shoot camera as a SLR camera are both fine. Minimum of 8 megapixels.
The workshop is all digital.

Note:
Miksang Contemplative Photography is a workshop about perception, learning to be open, and see the world around us just as it is. In that sense, we begin to open to the world of form, the many varied aspects of our visual world. Discover more about contemplative photography on the Miksang website.

PLEASE NOTE: Right before Level 2, Level 1 is offered. Thus you might want to enjoy a full week of contemplative photography , including the two Miksang Workshop Levels 1 & 2. If you attend both courses, we offer a special price of 750 Euro for the full week. Click here to see information about Level 1.
