Prerequisites for this program are Scorpion Seal Assemblies Years 1-7 and the practice requirements specified for each. Note: participants are asked to not do more than one Scorpion Seal Assembly per year (or program season).

It is not necessary to apply to the Shambhala Office of Practice and Education in order to attend Scorpion Seal Assembly Year 8. The Land Center will verify that you have completed SSA 1-7 when you register. 

In order to facilitate the organisation of this programme, we urge you to register as soon as possible. Please note: a late registration fee of €100 will be charged for registrations received after the 25th of June.

In case of important variation on the exchange rate between dollar and euro, the Sakyong's honorarium included in the global price might be adapted.

If you have financial difficulties but would love to attend a program, please contact to discuss an arrangement (scholarship, installments etc.).

This program is taught in English. Translation into French or other languages are available at no extra costs. Please give us notice of your request as early as possible, so that we can provide translation service.

Arrival day (August 25):Orientation talk at 8 pm. You're invited to come from 2 pm in order to register and settle in your room. Dinner is served at 6.45 pm.

End of program (September 4):Closing circle and Banquet in the evening.

Departure day (September 5):You may leave anytime (no program). You're welcome to stay for lunch.


John RockwellAshe Acharya John Rockwell has been a student of the Shambhala and Buddhist path for over 40 years and an acharya for over 20 years. His main interests as a teacher are to deepen everyday awareness through intensive meditation retreats, train people in the gentle body/mind awareness of Daoist qigong, and get everyone outside to explore their senses and the magic of the natural world. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his wife, Rhiannon Wells, and travels internationally to teach.

Price of your stay

Standard 1280 euro

Standard price: global tarif including the program fee, full board comprising standard accommodation (Dechen Chöling tent) and organic meals.

Other services

  • You may select a single or double room during online registration (if available, we’ll confirm by mail after registration).
  • Shuttle transport or taxi (all year round) and child care options (July/August) are available.
  • The insurance covering you during your stay (third party liability) is included in the yearly required membership fee for the Association Shambhala Europe (15 €).

We would like finances not to be a barrier to your participation. If needed, Dechen Chöling can propose several financial assistance options (monthly payment, scholarship…).
