Retreat for Werma practitioners in leadership roles.

An intense retreat providing a container for senior leaders in Shambhala to connect with the mind of the Sakyong, deepen their understanding and confidence in his vision, and forge stronger connections to one another.

The Monarch Retreat is a sealed retreat. Attendance is by invitation from the Kalapa Court to senior leaders of Shambhala. For information about attending, please contact David Brown, Executive Secretary to the Sakyong, at dbrown@shambhala.org.

Practical

This program will be taught in English.

Arrival day (Saturday, November 11): You're invited to come from 4 pm in order to register and settle in your room. Dinner is served at 6.45 pm. Orientation talk at 8 pm.

End of program
(Nov 18): Closing circle and banquet in the evening.

Departure day (Nov 19): You may leave anytime (no program). You're welcome to stay for lunch.

Jane’s involvement with Shambhala began in 1997. She lived at Karmê Chöling from 1997-2000 where she held several positions including Program Sphere Manager. At the request of the Sakyong, she became the Executive Director of the Boulder Shambhala Center, where she served from 2000-2004. She then moved to Shambhala Mountain Center to be Head of Practice and Education from 2005-2006. During that time, she also served as the Chair of the Marpa House Board and as a Secretary to the Sakyong. She was the Executive Director of Karmê Chöling from 2006-2014. She is currently the Director of Residential and Retreat Centers and Kalapa Envoy for Leadership Training and Mentorship and sits on the Kalapa Council.  She has hosted one other Monarch Retreat and attended one.  She is also the Director of the Vermont Leadership Institute.

Price of your stay

Standard 726 euro

Standard price: global tarif including the program fee, full board comprising standard accommodation (dormitory) and organic meals.

Other services

  • You may select a single or double room during online registration (if available, we’ll confirm by mail after registration).
  • Shuttle transport or taxi (all year round) and child care options (July/August) are available.
  • The insurance covering you during your stay (third party liability) is included in the yearly required membership fee for the Association Shambhala Europe (15 €).

We would like finances not to be a barrier to your participation. If needed, Dechen Chöling can propose several financial assistance options (monthly payment, scholarship…).
