Join us at this special time of the year for a contemplative and deepening program which will leave you grounded, refreshed and inspired - a perfect start for the New Year!



Practitioners of Ngöndro, Werma and Scorpion Seal are warmly invited to spend this week together, doing their practice and benefiting from group exchange.



Acharya David Hope will lead this gathering and offer guidance and instruction for the various levels of practice. Recorded talks of the Sakyong will also be part of the retreat.

Periods of silence will be included on most days.

This retreat counts as one week of Group Practice Requirements!

Practical information

Arrival day (Wednesday 27 December): Intro talk at 8 pm. You're invited to come from 3 pm in order to register and settle in your room. Dinner is served at 6.45 pm.

End of program (Wednesday 3 January): Closing circle and banquet in the evening.

Departure day (Thursday 4 January): You may leave anytime (no program). You're welcome to stay for lunch.

Language:  Retreat taught in English. Translation available at no extra costs upon request to be done as early as possible.  

Extra fees: participation in any programme offered by the association of Dechen Chöling requires you to be up-to-date with the association’s annual fee (15 €), easily paid upon arrival.

Teacher

David-HopeDavid Hope has been a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche for the past 30 years. He helped establish the London Shambhala Centre in the 1980’s. Since then he has taught widely in Europe and other countries worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He has been involved with Dechen Chöling since its beginnings in 1995, as a co-director and in many other ways. In 2005 he was appointed as Acharya (a senior teacher) for the Shambhala community. He lives in England with his wife, Christina de Block.

Standard price: global tarif including the program fee, full board comprising standard accommodation (dormitory) and organic meals. Room tax non included: (0,20 € per night and per person).

Discounted price: 25% reduction on the standard price for people with monthly net income below 1200 €. Room tax non included: (0,20 € per night and per person).

Early Bird: 10% reduction on the standard price for registration paid in full two months prior to the start of the program, i.e. before 27 October 2017. You cannot combine this with the discounted option. Room tax non included: (0,20 € per night and per person).

Other services

  • You may select a single or double room during online registration (if available, we’ll confirm by mail after registration).
  • Shuttle transport or taxi (all year round) and child care options (July/August) are available.
  • The insurance covering you during your stay (third party liability) is included in the yearly required membership fee for the Association Shambhala Europe (15 €).

We would like finances not to be a barrier to your participation. If needed, Dechen Chöling can propose several financial assistance options (monthly payment, scholarship…).
