The Dechen Chöling Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. François Grimbert as the new Transition Director of Dechen Chöling. Mr. Grimbert will assume his duties on April 6. The Council members are delighted to extend our congratulations and good wishes with a hearty Eh Ma Ho !

In response to the particular challenges DCL is facing, the creation of the Transition Director post reflects a strategic decision to focus on holding and gathering strength while we set the ground for the future. The Transition Director’s goals are to steward Dechen Chöling through the pandemic, establish approaches to practice and community well-being that are suited to our current situation, and provide space for the incubation of future directions. We are pleased that Mr. Grimbert will work with the Council on this mission.

Mr Grimbert grew up in France, in a multicultural family of eight children. He holds a doctorate in mathematical neuroscience, and pursued a scientific career in the US for three years at Northwestern University near Chicago. It was there that he first connected with Qi Gong and meditation, entering the Shambhala path in 2011. He is a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, a lifetime Dorje Kasung and a Kusung. He has served on Dechen Chöling’s staff as Operations manager and as Rusung, during which time he came to know  people from across Europe and Shambhala. He is a meditation instructor, a junior teacher and has been a French interpreter in many retreats.
