In a supportive and spacious environment, you are invited to slow down, reconnect, and deepen your personal practice.
Meditation is approached as the practice of being present with what is, with openness and without judgment. Yoga supports this by bringing body, breath, and mind into harmony. In a classical understanding, yoga and meditation form a unified path, each nourishing the other. But what does it mean and how is the practice of both connected?
In modern daily life, time for such depth is often limited. Short yoga classes or app-based meditation can be helpful, yet they may leave a sense of wanting to go further. A retreat creates the conditions to respond to this wish — through continuity, shared practice, and time to rest and reflect.
A retreat offers space for exactly that: Time to slow down, to explore and deepen your understanding and experience of meditation and Yoga.
This retreat is for everyone who feels an inner inspiration to deepen their meditation, to explore the Shamatha and Vipashyana aspects of meditation, and to connect the two. To connect with the body aspect of meditation, we will practice Hatha Yoga adapted to your possibilities. We will look at the connection of Shamatha Vipashyana and Yoga and explore how Yoga practices are intended to support sitting meditation.
You may already have some experience in Meditation or Yoga, or only a little. matters most is your genuine interest and inner motivation.
The daily schedule includes guided meditation sessions and yoga classes (for all levels). We begin the morning with Hatha Yoga practice, followed by a guided meditation. Later, there will be short inputs as talks or group exchanges.
In the afternoons, gentle yoga practice or exchanges are followed by relaxation leading into meditation. Free time is an integral part of the schedule, allowing space for rest and personal integration.
To conclude the retreat, we will focus the last day on possibilities on what to take into your daily life.
Weather permitting, some sessions will take place outdoors in the natural surroundings of Dechen Chöling.
Meditation Practice
We will practice and explore shamatha, vipashyana and the union of both, a form of sitting meditation that combines gentle attention on the breath with open awareness. This practice invites you to befriend your mind and explore the experience of the present moment with curiosity and gentleness. Additionally, we will practice some walking meditation with a similar focus.
Yoga Practice
The yoga sessions are based on Hatha Yoga, often referred to as the original yoga style. The practice combines holding postures (asanas) and flowing movement (vinyasa), along with breath exercises and relaxation. The movements support strength, stretching, breathing and presence preparing the body for meditation. Naturally, the Yoga practice will be adapted to your individual abilities.
