How can we cultivate an open and caring attitude towards others? What does it truly mean to follow the path of the bodhisattva? What is emptiness, and how can it transform the way we see the world and ourselves?
Over the course of these seven sessions, we will gradually explore the foundations of Mahayana Buddhism, drawing on traditional teachings and considering how they can be brought into our everyday lives.
We will begin by exploring bodhicitta, the aspiration to attain awakening for the benefit of all beings, together with practices that help us cultivate it: the Four Immeasurables and the Six Paramitas
We will then turn to emptiness, through the Heart Sutra, Prajñāpāramitā, and the teachings of the Madhyamaka, before exploring the Five Paths of the Mahayana and gaining an overall perspective on the practitioner’s journey.
These teachings are open to everyone, with no previous experience or particular background required. They are intended both for those who are discovering Buddhism and for those who already have a meditation practice and wish to deepen their understanding of the path.
They are particularly recommended for those engaged in a spiritual path, including within the Shambhala tradition, as well as for those who wish to become meditation instructors
